Kemmelberg

Culinary Delights

by J L Putman & M Soenen

The quadrilingual website (offering Dutch, French, English, and German), Tourism Heuvelland, offers a nice overview of the dozens of accommodation options in the wider area of the Kemmelberg (whether hotel, B&B, camping, holiday home, or youth centre). The same website lists the food, drink, and tasting options in more than a hundred catering establishments.

There are a number of accommodation and eating/dining options on the Kemmelberg or in the immediate vicinity. In addition, the breathtaking panoramas and views of the villages of Heuvelland from the higher terraces add value to a culinary break.

Something especially valued here are the visiting and tasting options available on the various wine estates, out of which sixteen have successfully planted vines in the municipality of Heuvelland.

The Heuvelland wine domains have experienced strong growth in recent years and the quality wines are gaining in popularity.

The Monteberg Wine Estate is the oldest in the region. It started with the construction of vineyards on the southern flank of the Kemmelberg and Monteberg in April 1995.
